SIPICS Software Takes The Next Step

23 Mar 2017

The South Island Patient Information Care System (SIPICS) reached its second major milestone in March when it went live in some inpatient wards at Burwood Hospital in Canterbury.

With this inpatient rollout, the core SIPICS application is now being used across outpatient, inpatient and community services teams within Canterbury DHB’s Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation service.Stella Ward, Executive Director of Allied Health, CDHB, and SIPICS Executive Sponsor, said: “It has taken time and energy to reach this milestone, and it’s a great example of what we can achieve when we work together. SIPICS has always been a partnership venture and this ongoing collaboration across the DHB, the region and Orion Health will aid us in providing innovative, patient-centred care.”

SIPICS will eventually replace eight patient administration software systems in use across the South Island including SAP, Homer and Caresys. It is being implemented via a staggered approach in some areas of Canterbury DHB, before being rolled out across Nelson Marlborough DHB.
